Perceptual Constancy
Perceiving the size, shape, and lightness of an object as unchanging, even as the image of the object on the retina of the eye changes.
Size Constancy A person’s perception that an object’s size does not change as it gets further or closer.
Shape Constancy The understanding that an object’s shape remains the same even though the angle of view makes the shape appear changed
Lightness Constancy
The perception of little variation in the lightness of objects despite differences in the amount of light falling upon them and in the amount of light reaching the eye from them
